SUMMARY:Brian Treitman + Bill Nemeroff: Out Of The Pit Wormtown Beer Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Chef Brian Treitman and Chef Bill Nemeroff stepped outside of the pit of BT’s Smokehouse and joined us for an intimate 30-person dinner at Wormtown Brewery on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester. The evening was meant to show off the technical training and culinary skills that both chefs have earned over the years—before finding themselves at the BBQ smoker. The private dinner started with a cocktail hour with appetizers and a specially chosen Wormtown Beer with a behind-the-scenes peek of the inner-workings of Worcester’s first\, and iconic\, brewery. The sit-down meal featured four courses that highlighted the chef’s talents and each course was paired with two Wormtown beers to emphasize the impact that different style brews can affect a meal. During each course\, the chefs and brewers talked about what came together for each pairing. To conclude the evening\, the fourth course—served within the taproom—offered a fun way to celebrate food in the heart of the Commonwealth with a special sweet treat. \nArrival\nLocal Cheese Display with assorted accouterments to compliment passed Tobiko Deviled Eggs (Fried Caper/Chive) and Pickled Shrimp (Chow Chow/ Cocktail Sauce).\nBeer Pairing: Banned Worcester Cream Ale \nFirst Course\nRoasted Acorn Squash \nCrisp Sweet Bread/Cider Syrup/Pickled Mustard Seed/Toasted Squash Seeds\nBeer Pairing: Irish Red & Hopular Culture #007 Golden Rye IPA \nSecond Course\nSalad “Niçoise” \nPreserved Salmon/Pickled Egg/Winter Spinach/Lardon/Radish/Pickled Asparagus \nBeer Pairing: Mass Produced Lager: Helles & Underground Series – Buddha Juice DIPA \nThird Course\nWalnut Lane “Korean” Short Rib \nBound Brook Farm VT Sticky Rice/ Furikake/ Cultured Butter/ Mung Bean and Cabbage Stir-fry \nBeer Pairing: Resilience IPA & Black Ale Project M*A*L*T – English Dark Mild \nFourth Course\nMaple Spring Farm Vanilla Ice Cream and Coffee Stout Float \nBeer Pairing: Barrel Aged Spies Like Us – Wormtown’s Russian Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrel’s for 9 months. \n  \nThis is a 21+ evening and tickets must be purchased through MassFoodies.com prior to the event. SUMMARY:The Second Annual Worcester Wine Festival
DESCRIPTION:Order Tickets Online » \nAs a supporter and sponsor of the Worcester Wine Festival we were happy to hear the second annual “week of wine” is scheduled from September 4th  through the 9th; with the Grand Tasting taking place on Saturday\, September 8th at Union Station in Worcester. \nOrganizers of the Worcester Wine Festival had one thing on their mind when they conceived of last year’s inaugural event: sophistication. Given all of the positive growth in the hospitality industry over the last few years\, organizers and sponsors felt Worcester deserved this. They hoped it would be a two-day symposium intended for wineries\, distributors\, and vineyards to reach area restaurants\, stores\, and consumers. When nearly 1\,500 participants turned out for the inaugural festival\, the festival’s founders knew they had tapped into something that was missing and needed in the region. \nThis year\, the Worcester Wine Festival will grow three times in size\, stretching to six days of intimate paired dinners\, nuanced brunches\, and of course – the Grand Tasting at Union Station. The festivities will run from September 4th-9th in and around Worcester. \nThe Festival’s wine dinners and brunches will be held at area restaurants known for their wine programs and include Willy’s Steakhouse\, Bocado Wine Bar\, Sonoma at the Beechwood\, deadhorse hill\, Altea’s\, and Lock 50. Chefs will prepare exclusive pairing menus for the occasion and have an intimate dinner within their restaurant for a small number of attendees. Tickets are on sale now. \nThe Grand Tasting is set to return to Union Station on Saturday\, September 8th and remains the most hotly anticipated event of the busy week. A variety of excellent food vendors will also be on hand providing samples and sustenance for guests. A limited number of VIP tickets are still available on the Worcester Wine Festival’s website. The VIP Lounge includes tastings of exclusive wines\, complimentary small bites\, premium hydration\, and comfortable seating. \n  \nOrder Tickets Online »

SUMMARY:The Willy Wonka Experience: The Summary
DESCRIPTION:“Welcome\, my friends. Welcome\, to my chocolate factory!” \nTricolored Pierogi with miniature vegetable embellishments.\nWhile Gene Wilder coined the phrase in the 1971 classic film reminiscent of a Grimm’s fairy tale\, Mass Foodies\, along with their partner Eventive\, took the phrase and gave it life. \nPlaying on childhood memories and taking into great details the essence of the movie classic\, The Willy Wonka Experience hosted at Sweet Kitchen and Bar dabbled in the world of edibles and extravagance. The night was ripped from the pages of a storybook\, with a whimsical gate entrance\, a menu filled with both sweet and savory dishes and of course\, a “standard form of contract” to be signed prior to entering the bubble filled elevator for the ride up to the event. During the cocktail hour\, guests were treated with the sights and sounds of the unexpected. As they made their way to the bar to fetch their Fizzy Lifting Cocktail\, they were greeted by Willy Wonka himself\, photo booth opportunities and servers passing out maple and bacon cotton candy and golden deviled\, picked egg hors d’oeuvres. \nConfit Hen of the Woods Mushrooms\nThe night was about exploring the world of Wonka through flavors by adding a unique flare to each dish and presenting guests with a memorable night filled with smiles\, delight and pure indulgence. The bar and tables were adorned with Wonka displays of rainbow lollipops and fresh green grass\, replicating the ever-lasting image of Wonka’s chocolate room. “Everything from presentation to taste was perfectly executed for this kind of unique event\,” said Erica Micciche. \nHighlighting the experience was Chef Alina Eisenhauer’s delicate touch on the main courses. Incorporating the inspiration and details of Willy Wonka\, Eisenhauer was able to create dishes meant to play on the threads of imagination and toy with the feeling of impossibility—blending colors with flavors and tricking the brain all at once. \nEach dish presented a unique element from the movie. Starting with the first course\, the local greens salad was adorned with edible flower. The second course\, Confit Hen of the Woods Mushrooms\, was plated in a wooden mushroom bowl and served on top of a roasted garlic hollandaise. The dish between the mushroom and duck was a trifecta of brightly colored pirogues rolled and folded to resemble candies and tarnished with miniature carrot\, halved radishes\, and flowers. These dishes made room for the ornate main course\, the Duck Roulade which a Hudson Valley duck breast rolled and dusted in cocoa matched with a rolled purple sweet potato croquette with blackberry port. Both the duck and croquettes were rolled to resemble candy and plated in a Rolo candy wrap\, the dishes were a transformative experience for many guests. “Chef Alina is always playing with flavors and this was a great vehicle for her to experiment tastes\,” said Dana\, a guest fully immersed in the playful spectacle of Wonka’s world. \nWilly Wonka passing out golden egg desserts.\nGuests mingle with Willy Wonka.\nThe highlight for many\, however\, was the dessert. To “cleanse the palate” Chef Alina offered a chocolate truffle dusted with gold and blended with an airy whipped peanut butter filling. To end the night\, however\, was the Flavor Tripping golden eggs. A cotton candy infused with some Willy Wonka magic that tricked the tastebuds into making lemon juice infused blueberries taste like candy and saltines taste like cake. \nThe Willy Wonka Experience was just that: an experience. While Mass Foodies attempted to blend all the senses into the world of Willy Wonka\, Chef Alina and her team were able to break down the barrier between sights and tastes; by tricking the mind into tasting flavors that weren’t there… or were they? “The theme was perfect because such a timeless story is able to cross generations. The food was playful but sophisticated at the same time\,” said Peter Dunn. “I look forward to the next idea!” \n\nHosted by Sweet – Kitchen & Bar and presented by Mass Foodies with Eventive. A huge thank you to those who attended and Erb Photography for being able to share the event after the fact! \nPosted by Mass Foodies on Thursday\, October 27\, 2016
