WORCESTER— It’s a chance for young ballplayers to take the field like the pros — and under the lights of a professional ballpark.

Baseball takes center stage at Polar Park next Monday, April 14, as six Worcester high schools participate in a tripleheader at the home of the WooSox.

The lineup features three back-to-back games, beginning with North High School versus Worcester Technical High School at 2:30 p.m. Burncoat High School faces South High Community School at 5 p.m., followed by Doherty Memorial High School against St. Paul Jr./Sr. High School at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free for children 14 and under, as well as for students with valid school IDs. Adult tickets are $5 and available at polarpark.com, the Polar Park Ticket Office, or by calling 508-500-8888. Each paid adult ticket includes a complimentary general admission ticket to a WooSox home game later this month.

Concessions are open throughout the event.

The day is part of a season-long initiative to give local high school athletes the opportunity to play at a professional ballpark.

“One of the tenets of this ballpark is to have year-round uses, as well as ballgames whether the WooSox are at home or on the road,” Worcester Red Sox President Dr. Charles A. Steinberg said in a statement. “We are as thrilled to have these six schools play at Polar Park as they are. The day provides an opportunity for moments that become lifetime memories for the players, their friends, and their families.”
