Exhibit, bridal expo, college hoops, Crüe copy: 5 weekend things

During the humdrum doldrums of winter, it’s even more important to get out and stimulate and entertain the brain. The Worcester Guardian highlights events you may want to consider attending over the weekend

Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:

  1. They’ve got the hits that kill….that kill: Rascals on James Street welcomes Looks That Kill: The Ultimate Mötley Crüe Tribute Experience on Saturday, Jan. 18. Doors open at 8 p.m. The four-member band channels the look and sound of the iconic 1980s hair metal legends, delivering an authentic and energetic tribute to the “bad boys from L.A.” Fans of Mötley Crüe can expect a high-energy night celebrating the hits that defined an era.
  2. “I do” central: wedding expo at the DCU: The 2025 Worcester Wedding & Bridal Expo, the largest one-day bridal event in Central Massachusetts, takes place at the DCU Center on Sunday, Jan. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Featuring more than 100 vendors offering a wide range of wedding products and services, the event provides couples with everything they need to plan their big day. From glamorous fashion shows to endless options for every budget, this showcase by Jenks Productions offers a comprehensive wedding planning experience all in one place.
  3. Whodunit dinner delight: The Dinner Detective, North America’s largest interactive comedy murder mystery dinner theatre, returns to Worcester at the Hilton Garden Inn on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 6-8 p.m., with its new mystery, Game Over. Enjoy a delicious three-course meal—including entrée options like Chicken Piccata, New England Scrod, or Vegetable Ravioli—while solving a hilarious true crime mystery. Be warned: the culprit is hiding among the guests, and you might end up as a prime suspect.
  4. Hoops and home courts: It’s all about nothing but net this Saturday, Jan. 18, with two big college men’s basketball games in Worcester. The Holy Cross Crusaders tip off against American University at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross College, while the Clark University Cougars roar into a NEWMAC showdown with MIT on their home court with the game starting at 1 p.m. It’s some slam dunk entertainment.
  5. Brush strokes and beats at JMAC: A trio of events complements the Painting Barber exhibit at the JMAC on Franklin Street, running through the end of the month. On Friday, Jan. 17, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., enjoy an underground music and art event featuring performances by 10of1Soldier, Zayexso, MiraIXX, MyLieee, SiaHV VS, 9 Geek, Laz, Mikey, DJ Choluhu, and DJ Cuando, as well as artwork by local Worcester artist Jasiel. On Saturday, Jan. 18, the fun continues with a kid’s paint event from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., followed by an artist panel event from 4-8 p.m. These events bring art and creativity to life in the heart of Worcester’s cultural scene.
