Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Annual Worcester Armenian Festival: Many look forward to this amazingly delicious and fun festival all year long. Well, it’s here. This year’s event, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday at the Armenian Church of Our Savior, includes various presentations, a church tour, musical and video productions, and of course numerous food options. Organizers say that this year offers a revised menu of traditional and uniquely new items to enjoy.
- Boot scootin’ superheroes: Superheroes meet stompers as Rascals’ weekly line dance night, which is Friday, features a themed night inviting dancers to dress up as their favorite superhero. Line dance in costume, and also compete for the best outfit grand prize.
- Rockabilly mayhem with Reverend Horton Heat: Reverend Horton Heat is known for its energetic blend of rockabilly, punk, and country music, often described as “psychobilly.” Their sound combines twangy guitar riffs, fast tempos, and humorous, rebellious lyrics, creating a retro yet edgy style. The band’s music draws on the roots of 1950s rock and roll, infused with punk rock energy and a dose of blues and surf rock influences, making their performances lively and dynamic. RHH is widely recognized for hits like “Psychobilly Freakout” and “Big Red Rocket of Love,” capturing the essence of high-octane rockabilly fun. Catch the band at Off the Rails this Friday night.
- Worcester Drag Gauntlet All Stars return: Get ready for an epic showdown as eight fierce queens return to battle for the title of Worcester Drag Gauntlet All Star. The big show’s at Electric Haze on Friday, Sept. 21, an exhilarating night of lip-syncs, dazzling dance moves, and show-stopping costumes. Hosted by the fabulous Victoria Obvious, this is a can’t-miss event full of charisma, uniqueness, and talent.
- Brantley Gilbert country rocks the DCU Center: On Saturday, Sept. 21, country superstar Brantley Gilbert brings his “Off the Rails” tour to the DCU Center. Presented by Pepper Entertainment, the show features special guests Adam Calhoun and Demun Jones. With his chart-topping hits and back-to-back Platinum albums, Brantley is known for delivering a high-energy show.
