NORTHBOROUGH—Three individuals are set to be charged on Monday, May 13, following the shooting death of a Massachusetts teenager at a large house party in Northborough, Worcester District Attorney Joe Early Jr. said in a press conference.
Wallisom Texeira Da Silva, Arnoldo Nogueira Filho, and Pedro Desouza-Passos face firearm-related charges in connection with the 16-year-old victim’s death.
Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, a pedestrian flagged down a Northborough police officer to let them know that someone had brandished a firearm at 333 Howard St. Police immediately called in the assistance of departments from Boylston, Shrewsbury, Westborough, Berlin, Marlborough, Southborough and the Massachusetts State Police.
While responders assembled to enter the property, they heard several gunshots, said Early, and then entered “what can only be described as a chaotic scene.”
The response included Mass. State Police’s K9 and Air Wing Units, joining more than 25 police officers from Northborough and surrounding towns.
Set on several acres, authorities said there were easily 300 people attending the house party at 333 Howard St. A 16-year-old male, who was later confirmed to be from Bellingham, was given aid at the scene, and carried down a hill by a Northborough officer and state police trooper to an awaiting ambulance. He was later pronounced dead at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
A 17-year-old was also transported to Marlborough Hospital for treatment, and released. Two others at the party were also treated for injuries at the hospital and released. Several others who were injured were treated at the scene, but declined to go to the hospital.
“Our thoughts go out to the victims and the victim’s family during this senseless act of violence,” said Northborough Police Chief Brian Griffin, echoing Early’s comments that the scene of the shooting was particularly chaotic. “It’s especially difficult, being on Mother’s Day.”
Griffin said that state police is working with Northborough police “around the clock” and that anyone with information should call police at 508-393-1515.
“There were 300 people there, so if anyone has any video or information, no matter how small you think it may be, should call Northborough police,” said Griffin.
Griffin confirmed during the press conference that authorities have spoken to the homeowner at 333 Howard St., and that there had been complaints of a large party at the home previously.
“They assured us that it was the last of it,” said Griffin. “Obviously that was not the case.”
Early said that whether there is a social host liability component to the case “remains to be seen. we have a lot of work to do. There’s stuff everywhere and there’s a lot of work to do. Both the victim and everyone charged lives outside of Northborough.”
Bellingham Public Schools Superintendent Peter Marano confirmed the victim’s residency but clarified that the deceased was not enrolled in the school district, reports WCVB-TV.
The suspects are scheduled for arraignment in Westborough District Court.
