16-year-old charged in deadly shooting on Paine Street

A victim shot while driving on April 30 died from his injuries on May 17; the incident will now be treated as a homicide, said police

WORCESTER—A man who was shot while driving has died from his injuries, leading police to now consider the shooting a homicide.

On April 30 around 9:01 p.m., Worcester officers responded to Paine Street for reports of a car that struck a house. They found a male driver who was suffering from a gunshot wound, and transported him to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

A 16-year-old was arrested on May 9 in connection with the incident and charged with armed assault to murder, possession of a loaded firearm without license to carry, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Police reported on Friday, May 17, that the victim died from those gunshot injuries and the shooting is now considered a homicide incident.
