WORCESTER—March may still sound like a distant idea in the middle of winter, but for Worcester baseball fans, it’s closer than it feels.

The Worcester Red Sox announced their 2026 schedule this week, revealing an unusually early start to the season and another full summer of baseball at Polar Park. The WooSox opens its sixth season in Worcester on Friday, March 27, hosting the Syracuse Mets at 4:05 p.m. in what will be the earliest opening day ever for a Red Sox Triple-A affiliate, according to the team’s announcement.

The early start marks a notable milestone for the Worcester franchise, which will again play a 150-game schedule split evenly between home and road games. Seventy-five of those games hit the diamond at Polar Park, continuing a streak that began with the ballpark’s opening in 2021.

Opening weekend features three straight day games against Syracuse, with additional games scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at 4:05 p.m. and Sunday, March 29 at 1:05 p.m. After the opening series, Worcester heads west for a six-game road trip to St. Paul, Minnesota, before returning home for an extended homestand beginning April 7 against the Columbus Clippers.

The 2026 season also coincides with the fifth anniversary of Polar Park, which officially opened on May 11, 2021. The team said much of the upcoming season will include promotions and events tied to that milestone, alongside familiar features such as Friday night fireworks, weekend family programming and themed game nights.

Worcester’s home again during April school vacation week, hosting Syracuse for a six-game series that includes daytime starts designed to draw families and students. The schedule also includes several morning games geared toward school field trips later in the spring.

As in recent seasons, the International League schedule will largely follow a Tuesday-through-Sunday format, with no Monday games scheduled all year. The season will be split into two halves, with the first running from late March through June and the second stretching through September. Worcester’s home finale is set for Sunday, Sept. 20, against Durham.
