Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Poison and Van Halen tributes rip it up for Chuck’s 40th: Celebrate 40 years of Chuck Perks on the air with a night of epic rock at Rascals in Worcester on Saturday, April 12. Presented by 100.1FM The Pike, the party features Poison tribute Shot of Poison—praised by the real band’s lead singer Bret Michaels and featured on E!’s Clash of the Cover Bands—and Everybody Wants Some, a high-octane tribute to classic-era Van Halen. Doors open at 6 p.m. for early GA (arrive by 7 p.m. to guarantee your seat); general admission starts at 7, and the music kicks off at 8 p.m. Relive the glory of ‘80s rock and raise a toast to a local radio legend.
- Flapjacks and bunny hops: The Easter Bunny is making a pit stop at the Worcester Marine Corps League on Lake Ave. this Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—and he’s bringing pancakes. Or he’ll be enjoying pancakes cooked in his honor. This reservation-only event features an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, pastries, pancakes (of course) and more, plus family-friendly fun including an indoor egg hunt, cupcake decorating, coloring, and a retelling of the Easter story. It’s $20 for adults, $10 for kids 3 and up, and free for those under 3. Reservations required. Call Maria Stella Fiore at 774-253-7015 to reserve your spot.
- So tonight, you’re gonna party like it’s 1985—for a great cause: Catch The Flock, an ’80s tribute band known for its synth-heavy pop and new wave hits from the decade of excess, playing a special benefit show for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute—one of the world’s leading cancer treatment centers. Expect throwback vibes and danceable nostalgia with all the shimmering guitar effects, vintage keys and silly showmanship you can handle. The show happens Friday, April 11, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Fiddler’s Green—perfect timing for those who love a night out but still want to be home at a reasonable hour.
- Wood you believe It? Printmaking in action: Curious how traditional woodblock prints come to life? Drop by the Worcester Art Museum this Sunday, April 13, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for a live demonstration by printmaking expert Sato Yamamoto. Born in Meguro, Tokyo, and now based in New York, Yamamoto walks visitors through the intricate process behind the art featured in Reflections of a Changing Japan: The Evolution of Shin Hanga. The event is free with museum admission and takes place in the Lancaster Lobby.
- Mic check, community vibes on: Celebrate creativity and connection at the First Baptist Church’s next open mic night on Friday, April 11. Now in its eighth edition, this every-other-month gathering welcomes poetry, music, and storytelling in a warm, inclusive space led by beloved MC JiJi Marie. Sign-ups start at 7:15 p.m. in the Lee Room (enter from the parking lot side). Each performer gets five minutes to shine. Light refreshments will be served—and the only rule is good vibes. Whether you’re taking the mic or just soaking it all in, you’re part of the magic.
