Dad day, Caribbean fest, Rocky Horror: 5 fun things this weekend

There is no shortage of things to do around these parts. The Worcester Guardian highlights events you may want to consider hitting up this weekend

Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:

  1. Espresso yourself at ArtsWorcester: Start your Saturday right with the Biennial Coffeehouse at ArtsWorcester—a morning blend of caffeine, conversation, and creativity. From 10 a.m. to noon, sip coffee or tea, nibble baked goods, and chat with prize-winning artists like Kara Patrowicz, Kailey Coppens, Amanda Pickler, Ashley MacLure, Steve Imrich, and Mary Calkins. They’ll share what inspired their works and point out favorites throughout the gallery. Arrive early—artists kick things off shortly after 10—and stick around to explore the Biennial exhibition, open until 5 p.m. Free and open to all at 44 Portland St.
  2. Ink, engines and Elvis energy: Off The Rails is revving up for its second annual Father’s Day Car Show on Sunday, June 15, with a day full of classic cars, live music, BBQ, and even walk-in tattoos. From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the parking lot will transform into a chrome-lover’s paradise, featuring live sets from psychobilly legends Guana Batz and Boston rockers Diablogato. Crown of Thorns Tattoo will be on-site inside the venue, offering fresh ink—no appointment needed. Off The Rails’ BBQ tent will be smoking all day, so come hungry. Tickets are $20 in advance for show car parking (includes passengers), or $15 just to walk in—kids under 10 get in free. A portion of proceeds supports Irreverent Warriors.
  3. Grill, thrill, and dad jokes until you drop: Spencer Fairgrounds is the place to be this Saturday, June 14, for DadFest 2025, a food truck and fun extravaganza celebrating all things fatherly. From noon to 5 p.m., enjoy a massive spread of food trucks, classic and custom cars, carnival games, craft vendors, music, and a lineup of activities fit for the king of corny puns—including a dad joke contest. There’s even a beer garden hosted by The Stein & Vine for the 21+ crowd. Admission is $5 at the gate (kids under 12 are free), and parking won’t cost a thing. Head to 49 Smithville Road in Spencer and bring your appetite, your A-game, and maybe that hideous tie Dad pretends to love.
  4. A Taste of the islands in the heart of Worcester: Spice up your Sunday at the Worcester Caribbean American Heritage Festival, happening June 15 from noon to 7 p.m. at Institute Park. This lively celebration, hosted by Caribbean Rum & Food Festival, honors National Caribbean American Heritage Month with an explosion of Caribbean culture—including live music, delicious island cuisine, and vibrant arts and crafts. It’s free, it’s festive, and it’s open to everyone ready to feel the rhythm and flavor of the Caribbean right here in Worcester.
  5. Doing the time warp again: Get ready to throw some (toilet) paper and let loose at The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday, June 13 at the Hanover Theatre. The cult classic kicks off at 9 p.m. with a live shadowcast performance by the Teseracte Players of Boston, bringing the film’s outrageous characters and unforgettable scenes to life right in front of the screen. Come in costume, shout your favorite lines, and embrace the chaos—just leave the toast at home. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-timer, this interactive experience promises to thrill, chill, and fulfill.
