Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Feast and falafel at St. George: Worcester’s largest Middle Eastern Festival is back. From Friday, June 6, to Sunday, June 8, join the crowd at St. George Orthodox Cathedral Church for three days of mouthwatering food, music, dancing, and family-friendly fun. With more than 10,000 visitors last year, this flavorful fest is a can’t-miss celebration of culture and community.
- Kebabs and kheyma on Salisbury Street: Get your fill of flavor and fun at the Armenian Picnic on Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Enjoy live Armenian music and dancing with the Mugrditchian Band, savor homemade favorites like shish kebab, losh kebab, chicken kebab, and Gary Manoogian’s legendary kheyma. There’ll be kid’s activities, a bake table, and a special visit from Rev. Fr. Tadeos Barseghyan and his family. Come hungry—and ready to dance.
- Bases are loaded and Casey’s at bat: Celebrate Worcester’s own Ernest L. Thayer and his iconic poem with a free staged reading of Casey at the Bat – The Musical, presented by the Museum of Worcester and 4th Wall Stage Company. This musical tribute marks the 137th anniversary of the poem’s 1888 debut. Baseball fans, bring your spirit (and your jerseys—vintage or fresh)! The show hits the stage Saturday, June 7, at 1 p.m. at the Museum of Worcester, 30 Elm St. Batter up!
- Rollin’ deep: food Trucks, beer and vibes on the common: Get your stretchy pants ready—the Worcester Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival rolls into the Common this Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Celebrating 13 glorious, gut-busting years, the fest features a fleet of local flavor: think spicy egg rolls from Eggroll Cafe, tacos from Thee Taco Dude, sweet scoops from Uhlman’s, and Venezuelan eats that’ll ruin you for boring lunches forever. Wash it all down with craft brews while pretending it’s not your third whoopie pie. Admission required—hunger is free.
- WAM! Bam! Pride and Art, thank you ma’am: The Worcester Art Museum throws open its doors for a free all-day pride celebration this Sunday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—and it’s serving poetry, performance, and plenty of fabulous flair. Hear readings inspired by Elizabeth Bishop at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., take a guided tour of art by LGBTQ+ artists at 12:30 p.m., and don’t miss the 2 p.m. drag show starring Dale LePage, Harley Queen, and Russell Sprouts. Plus: Drag Storytime with Miss Rita and friends—time TBA, but worth the wait. Art, identity, and glitter? Count us in.
