Fatal stabbing under investigation on Catharine Street

WORCESTER—A man is dead following an early morning stabbing at a Catharine Street rooming house, according to Worcester police.

Officers responded at approximately 4:11 a.m. on April 2 to a report of an assault involving a knife at the residence, where they located an adult male suffering from stab wounds, according to police.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police also located an adult male suspect at the scene and placed him under arrest in connection with the attack, according to the release.

“All evidence indicates that this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” police said in the announcement.

The Worcester Police Department’s Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate the incident. Police have not yet released the names of the victim or suspect, and no additional details were immediately available.
