Halloween fun, jazz show, Charlotte’s Web: 5 fun weekend things

Fall is beautiful in New England. And there’s a whole lot to do this season in the Worcester area. The Worcester Guardian highlights events you may want to consider attending over the weekend.

Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:

  1. Booze and boos at the Worcester Halloween bar crawl: Get your costumes ready for Worcester’s spookiest bar crawl on Saturday, Oct. 26, with check-in from 4-6 p.m. at Bay State Brewery. Enjoy 2-3 drinks or shots, no cover at most venues, exclusive drink specials, food deals, and a shot at a $1,000 costume contest! Participating bars include Bay State Brewery, Electric Haze, Mai Tai Bar, and more. Plus, an awesome after-party awaits. Don’t miss out on the scares, drinks, and fun.
  2. Jazzy good night with Greg Abate Quartet: WICN Public Radio’s Brian Barlow Concert Series features the Greg Abate Quartet on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Worcester Historical Museum’s Fletcher Auditorium. Enjoy a night of top-tier jazz with Rhode Island Music Hall of Famer Greg Abate, joined by Steve Hunt, John Lockwood, and Mark Walker. Arrive early for a special presentation on Worcester’s jazz history by Professor Ben Young. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a cash bar. Tickets on sale now.
  3. Spooky good fun at Polar Park: Costume up for Trick or Treat at Polar Park on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 2-6 p.m. The WooSox invite parents, guardians and their little ghouls for an afternoon of trick-or-treating and Halloween fun, rain or shine. Enjoy themed activities for the whole family, grab some yummy treats, and shop for fan gear at the WooSox Team Store. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, too.
  4. The First Unitarian Church Choir is Bach in town: Enjoy a special performance of Bach’s Cantata BWV 61 during the 10:30 a.m. worship service at First Unitarian Church on Oct. 27 for Bachtoberfest. The First Unitarian Church Choir, led by Dr. Allegra Martin, brings this timeless piece to life. The public is warmly invited to attend—please RSVP. Can’t make it? Watch the service livestreamed via the church’s YouTube channel.
  5. It’s Charlotte’s Web live: Experience the heartwarming story of Wilbur and Charlotte as “Charlotte’s Web” takes the stage at Francis R. Carroll Plaza, performed by the Hanover Theater Company’s Youth Acting Company, with two shows on Saturday and one on Sunday. This free performance, based on E.B. White’s classic tale of friendship and bravery, is perfect for all ages! Join us rain or shine—bring your own chair for comfort. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors. Don’t miss this cherished story brought to life on stage!
