Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Make a turn toward Right Angle Woman: Right Angle Woman, affectionately referred to as RAW, is a classic rock band from Mendon that has had several rescheduled shows slated for Halligan’s in Auburn. Well, it’s finally happening on Friday, July 19, with the show starting at 8:30 p.m.
- Summer soiree ballroom dance, Hawaii-style: Featuring music by Ray Cavicchio, and free dance lessons, participants are encouraged to dig out their grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts for this ballroom dance and luau at Maironis Park in Shrewsbury on Sunday, July 21, from 2-6 p.m.
- This event is pressing: Literally. The EcoTarium is hosting a leaf and flower pressing workshop on Saturday, July 20, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. In the workshop, participants collect plants and flowers for pressing and learn how to press and mount them. These specimens can be left behind to possibly be added to the museum’s pressed plant collection, or it can be picked up later in the week. Reserve your spot.
- Kids need culture, too: Worcester Caribbean-American Carnival Association is hosting a Kiddies Cultural Festival on Sunday, July 21, at the Worcester Common. Bring the family downtown to enjoy food, arts & crafts, steel pan and more. The event runs 1-6 p.m.
- Bang your head: The Undead Headbangers Ball takes over Electric Haze on Saturday, July 20, with local heavy hitters, including Allwack, SVSPENSION B2B Sokomodo, and Space Cadet. The venue said “it’s guaranteed to be a night of pure unadulterated dubstep madness.
