Hero hockey, Decades, ‘rock’ show: 5 fun things this weekend

Get out of your jammie pants (or stay in them-your call) and get out and do something. The Worcester Guardian highlights events you may want to consider attending over the weekend.

Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:

  1. Let’s go crazy; let’s get nuts: Get ready to party like it’s 1999. LoVeSeXy, New England’s premier tribute to Prince, brings an electrifying live performance to Rascals on Saturday, Nov. 23. From chart-topping hits such as “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry” to fan favorites such as “Gett Off” and “Uptown,” this high-energy show celebrates Prince’s music, life, and legacy. Fronted by Giovanni Morant’s uncanny vocals and dynamic stage presence, LoVeSeXy features a powerhouse band of acclaimed musicians, including award-winning guitarist Jodee Frawlee. Dress up in your favorite Prince-inspired or ’80s style and get ready for a night of unforgettable music and dance.
  2. Superhero Sunday with the Railers: Join the Worcester Railers for Make-A-Wish Night as they face off against the Trois Rivieres Lions this Sunday. Dress as a superhero, enjoy themed activities, and snag a Superhero Cape giveaway (while supplies last). Doors open at 2:05 p.m.; game time is 3:05 p.m. Wish recipient Leo steps in as Junior Announcer for the evening, making this a heartwarming and action-packed event for a great cause.
  3. Rocking it: Discover a treasure trove of minerals, fossils, gems, and more at the Worcester Mineral Club’s 47th annual mineral, gem, fossil and jewelry show, happening Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23 and 24. With 20+ vendors, live demonstrations, door prizes, raffles, and activities for kids, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss the rock and mineral ID table or the food concessions. Admission: $6 adults, $5 seniors/students, free for kids 12 and under and scouts in uniform.
  4. Artists explore the meaning of blue: Dive into the symbolic and historic significance of the color blue at This Blue Profundity, Contemporary Artists Revisit a Color, an exhibition at the Cantor Art Gallery, Holy Cross College, through Dec. 20. Featuring works by artists such as Adam Chau and Ifé Franklin, the show highlights blue’s role in history, culture, and emotion through mediums like porcelain and indigo fabric. Weekend hours: Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. Don’t miss a special performance by Holy Cross students on Monday, Nov. 25, at noon, inspired by the exhibit.
  5. Through the years, through music: Decades by Dezyne takes the stage at Halligan’s in Auburn this Friday, Nov. 22, with a powerhouse show spanning dance, R&B, soul, and rock hits from the ’60s to today. Known for their stellar harmonies, kicking rhythm section, and choreographed stage moves, this band has been thrilling audiences for over 25 years. The music starts at 8:30 p.m.
