Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Annual Applefest at the mountain: Indulge in the fall season at Wachusett Mountain’s Applefest on Saturday and Sunday, when visitors can savor fresh hot cider donuts from Red Apple Farm and explore a massive artist & craft market, featuring more than 125 booths selling everything from alpaca-wool gloves to handmade silver jewelry. With live music, contests, and family-friendly fun spread across the weekend, there’s something for everyone at this decidedly autumn-ish event.
- Centro’s annual Latino heritage breakfast: Start the day-Friday, Oct. 18- with the Hispanic heritage breakfast celebration, where attendees can network with others who support and help empower the Latin community of Central Massachusetts.CEO and Founder of Culture Redesigned, Adriana Vaccaro, receives the Community Partner Award at the event. The proceeds go to Centro’s food pantry, which serves some of the area’s most vulnerable families and individuals.The breakfast takes place at Union Station from 8-10 a.m. Get tickets.
- Cat Chat with Rachel Geller: solve your feline woes Got a kitty that’s more trouble than those internet-famous cats would appear? Head to Worcester Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 2-3 p.m. for expert advice from Rachel Geller, Ed.D., founder of All Cats All the Time. Whether your cat’s shredding, skipping the litter box, or struggling in a multi-cat home, Geller’s here to help. Learn tips to resolve behavior issues and get answers to your burning cat questions. Bonus: discover why black cats are often the last to be adopted!
- Double Tribute: Beastie Ballz & Dirt at Ralph’s: Get ready for a night of legendary tunes at Ralph’s Diner on Prescott Street this Saturday. Beastie Ballz brings all the energy with their Beastie Boys tribute, covering both iconic hits and some rare deep cuts. Stick around for Dirt, which channels the grunge power of Alice in Chains, performing fan-favorites and hidden gems alike. It’s a fine mix of hip-hop and grunge.
- Get the puck over to the DCU for the Railers season opener: Hockey season is back! Celebrate the Worcester Railers’ opening weekend with two days of excitement. Saturday, Oct. 19, kicks off with a pre-game block party (4-6 p.m.), followed by the Railers taking on their first opponent at 6:05 p.m. Don’t miss performances from the ZOOperstars and a special appearance by comedian Jimmy Cash. Then on Sunday, the official Kids Opening Day features family-friendly activities, another block party (1-3 p.m.) and $10 tickets for kids tickets to the games.
