Nonprofits to spotlight frontline work at Worcester community resilience showcase

United Way event highlights programs funded through relief and assistance initiatives, with local organizations sharing outcomes and challenges on the ground

WORCESTER—A group of Central Massachusetts nonprofits take the stage Monday to make the case for what community support looks like beyond headlines and funding announcements.

The Community Resilience Showcase, scheduled for May 4, brings together organizations that have received support through several recent funding streams—including the United Response Fund, National Grid Foundation Utility Assistance Funding, and the ARPA Food Security Initiative—to present their work and its impact across the region.

Hosted by United Way of Central Massachusetts, the event is designed to move beyond data points and offer a closer look at how those investments translate into services for residents navigating housing instability, food insecurity, and other challenges.

According to event materials, presentations will include the Blackstone Valley Emergency Shelter, Jeremiah’s Inn, Centro, and several additional organizations “whose urgent needs were supported by our Community Resilience funding.”

Organizers describe the event as an opportunity to “hear directly from the organizations on the ground” and to see “how investments are making a difference” in communities across Central Massachusetts.

The showcase will focus on the broader concept of community resilience—how local organizations are responding to immediate needs while also building longer-term systems of support.

“What does community resilience look like in action?” the event description asks, framing the program as a way to connect funding efforts with real-world outcomes.

The event is open to the public and aimed at a wide audience, including community leaders, donors, and residents interested in local nonprofit work. Organizers say it will highlight how partner organizations are helping individuals and families “not just recover, but thrive.”

The showcase is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. at 18 Chestnut St. in Worcester.
