Worcester’s never short on things to do. Each week, the Worcester Guardian highlights events and activities you may want to consider over the weekend ahead.
Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Bob Marley, the comedian, is wicked funny: Maine resident Bob Marley heads to Worcester to headline a comedy show at Mechanics Hall on Friday, Dec. 29, at 5 and 8 p.m. Featured regularly on Sirius XM radio, Marley won its “Superbowl of Comedy.” He’s put out more than 20 comedy CDs and DVDs, has been on Leno, Letterman, Conan, Jimmy Fallon, Craig Ferguson and Comedy Central, and is even featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for the “longest stand-up comedy show by an individual.” Get your funny on.
- As close to the album as possible: Metallica is known for being meticulous, and the Four Horsemen are meticulous as possible in covering the legendary metal band. This tribute headlines Rascals, James Street, on Saturday, Dec. 30, starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20-$25.
- MicroWrestling at the Palladium: The Micro Wrestling Federation is a full-scale, WWE type event supported by an entire cast under five feet tall. Founded in 2000, the MWF is the longest running organization within the Little Person wrestling industry. Catch the show at the Palladium on Friday, Dec. 29. Doors open at 7 p.m.
- Hooping it back to the ‘70s: It’s ‘70s night at the Holy Cross College gym when Crusaders face their final non-conference opponent, Elms College, on Friday, Dec. 29. Tickets are $10 and this men’s basketball game starts at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross.
- Early New Year’s Eve celebration, especially for kids: Starting at 10 a.m. through 3 p.m., the EcoTarium’s got a lineup of activities and events to help kids and their families ring in the new year, early. Attendees can make a time capsule, add a 2024 resolution to the resolution wall, participate in exciting education programs, encounter otters, enjoy a Planetarium show, hit the photo booth, use noisemakers, and a lot more. Plus, there’s a countdown to the New Year, at noon. Here’s the full schedule. Of course there are oodles of things to do on NYE, particularly for adults. Some options include The Flock at Samuel Slater’s in Webster, Decades by Dezyne at Halligan’s in Auburn, Disco Lemonade at Off the Rails, a Goblin Masquerade Ball at Ralph’s, and Aquanett at Rascals.
