WORCESTER—One of Worcester’s most distinctive shopping destinations is getting a statewide moment in the spotlight.
Crompton Collective, the 9,000-square-foot vintage and handmade marketplace in the Crompton Building, was recently featured on Chronicle, WCVB Channel 5’s long-running lifestyle and culture program. The segment highlights the shop’s unique mix of vintage finds, handmade goods, salvaged pieces and rare clothing—and the vision behind it.
You’d be hard pressed to find someone around here who isn’t aware of Crompton Collective, but just in case, here’s the skinny on it. Owned by Amy Chase, Crompton Collective is organized as a vendor-based marketplace, with individual booths curated by sellers offering everything from antiques and architectural salvage to clothing, art and home décor. In the Chronicle segment, Chase describes the experience of shopping there as intentionally exploratory.
“I don’t think you know what you want here until you see it,” Chase said in the broadcast. “I think you really just have to look around and see what speaks to you.”
The feature traces Crompton Collective’s evolution from Chase’s early days running a mobile vintage shop to the brick-and-mortar destination it has become inside one of Worcester’s historic mill buildings. The segment also showcases the scale of the space and the variety of vendors that contribute to its ever-changing inventory.
Chronicle, which has aired on WCVB since 1982, is known for spotlighting notable New England destinations, food, culture and small businesses. The Crompton Collective segment places the Worcester shop among a select group of regional spots highlighted for their character and creativity.
The episode featuring Crompton Collective is available to watch online through WCVB.
