WORCESTER—Worcester celebrates Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with a full slate of events honoring the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces — beginning, as it does each year, with the smell of pancakes and bacon at Veterans Inc.

The organization hosts the annual Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast from 8:30-11 a.m. at its historic Armory headquarters, 69 Grove St. The breakfast is open to the public and typically draws hundreds of veterans and families for a morning of food, camaraderie and gratitude. Organizers say the event is both a celebration and a chance to pause and thank those who have worn the uniform.

Following breakfast, the city’s 72nd annual Veterans Day Parade steps off from Veterans Inc. at 11 a.m., winding down Main Street past City Hall before turning onto Franklin Street and finishing at Worcester Common. Marching bands, community groups, and local organizations are invited to take part, from floats and classic cars to youth groups and veterans’ associations.

The day continues with wreath-laying ceremonies at two of the city’s memorials — at 12:30 p.m. at the Korean War Memorial on Foster Street and at 1:30 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Green Hill Park.

By noon, Worcester Common transforms into a community gathering space, featuring tables hosted by local groups, static military displays, and family-friendly activities that stretch into the afternoon. Food trucks are also on site, offering lunch options for spectators and participants.

The city’s Veterans Services Division and Veterans Inc. have worked together for decades to keep the Worcester tradition alive — marking both the 72nd annual parade and the 107th observance of Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I.

“Veterans Day is about community,” organizers said. “It’s a day when Worcester comes together to recognize service and sacrifice — not just in words, but in shared time and appreciation.”

Municipal offices are closed Tuesday in observance of the holiday.
