The Worcester Majors are inviting residents to spend an afternoon courtside this weekend as the local basketball organization hosts a fundraiser exhibition game designed to strengthen community connections while showcasing the sport they love.
The Majors take on the New England Suns at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Forest Grove Middle School. Organizers say the event is intended to bring together basketball fans, families and community members while supporting the team’s ongoing efforts in Worcester.
For the Majors, the exhibition is about more than the outcome on the scoreboard.
According to an announcement from the organization, the game is part of a broader effort to build community through basketball, create opportunities for local youth and expand support for the team’s mission in Worcester.
The event also reflects the organization’s belief that sports can serve as a gathering place, bringing together people from different neighborhoods and backgrounds through a shared experience.
“Basketball has always been a way for us to connect with the community,” the Worcester Majors said in the announcement.
The organization described the fundraiser as an opportunity for residents to support local basketball while celebrating the pride, energy and unity that continue to shape the city.
As Worcester’s sports landscape continues to grow — from professional baseball at Polar Park to youth, amateur and recreational leagues across the city — organizers hope the event will introduce more residents to the Worcester Majors and their work beyond the court.
The team says its identity is rooted in values that include discipline, heart, community and brotherhood, with a focus on creating a positive impact throughout Worcester while representing the city whenever it takes the floor.
Saturday’s game will be held at Forest Grove Middle School, 495 Grove St. Tickets are $10, while children will be admitted free.
Organizers are encouraging residents to attend with family and friends for an afternoon of basketball and community support.
Additional information and tickets are available through the Worcester Majors Eventbrite page and the team’s social media channels.
