WORCESTER—A Worcester man has pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally possessing firearms and an unregistered silencer, following a police stop that led to his arrest last year.

Ryan Davidson, 39, entered a guilty plea on Tuesday to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and one count of possessing an unregistered firearm-silencer, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman scheduled sentencing for July 15, 2025.

Davidson was initially indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2023, with a superseding indictment issued in November 2023. The charges stem from a May 9, 2023, traffic stop in Worcester, during which Davidson fled on foot after refusing an inventory search of his vehicle, which was being towed for lack of insurance.

He was later apprehended in a nearby backyard while wearing a GPS monitoring device related to previous firearm-related charges.

During the search of his vehicle, officers found a bag containing a 9mm “ghost gun” with a loaded magazine, a silencer, additional ammunition, and a second loaded firearm in the glovebox. Davidson had previously been convicted of felonies that carried a sentence of seven to ten years in prison, making it illegal for him to possess firearms.

Under federal law, Davidson faces up to 15 years in prison for unlawful firearm possession and up to 10 years for possessing an unregistered silencer. His sentence will be determined by the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal initiative aimed at reducing gun violence through coordinated law enforcement efforts.
