WORCESTER—Worcester residents now have an easier way to apply for essential state benefits, thanks to a new self-service kiosk at the Worcester 311 Customer Service Center at 799 Main St.
The kiosk, announced by city officials on Tuesday, allows residents to apply for Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) programs, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), and Emergency Aid to Elders, Disabled, and Children (EAEDC). Applicants must have a valid email address to use the service.
“This is the next phase of our continued rollout of services for the Worcester 311 Customer Service Center,” City Manager Eric D. Batista said in the announcement. “These new services help us bring critical resources to residents where they are.”
The 311 Customer Service Center, which serves as a direct connection between residents and city services, continues to expand its offerings. In January, the center also introduced career counseling services in partnership with MassHire. Residents can meet with a MassHire counselor on the first and third Thursday of each month for job search assistance, training, and resume writing.
The DTA self-service kiosk is available during the center’s business hours:
- Tuesday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For residents unable to visit in person, applications can also be submitted through the Commonwealth’s mobile app at DTAConnect.
The city said it plans to continue expanding services at the 311 center to make government resources more accessible to the community.
