WORCESTER—The Many Voices: Mechanics Hall Youth Singers, a non-audition youth chorus open to Worcester students in grades 4 through 7, kicks off its third season with a spirited fall concert on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m.

Named Many Voices, Many Cultures, the concert features a diverse lineup of songs that reflect various cultures and traditions, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the city.

Performing on the historic Mechanics Hall stage, more than 50 young singers share melodies from around the world, including “The Greatest” by Sia Dos, “Oruguitas” from Disney’s Encanto, the traditional South African song “Bohmbela,” the Brazilian folk tune “Cirandeiro,” “Glorious” by Stephanie Mabey, and the choir’s own anthem, “Many Voices.”

The youth chorus, which welcomes all students without the need for auditions, is directed by Reagan G. Paras, an associate professor at Berklee College of Music. Worcester public and private school music teachers support the students as coaches during their performance.

The concert is designed to engage the audience, encouraging attendees to clap, dance, and immerse themselves in the musical celebration. “We are thrilled to invite the community on a spirited musical journey through our rich cultural heritage,” said Mechanics Hall Executive Director Kathleen Gagne in a press release. “These remarkable young people will fill the atmosphere with melodies that resonate with everyone in the audience.”

Tickets are available on a “pay what you wish” basis, making it accessible to all. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 508-752-0888.

The event promises to be a lively, heartwarming performance that highlights the unity and diversity of Worcester’s youth through the power of song.
