Worcester—A violent series of events on Oct. 2 has left two men dead following a suspected homicide and a chaotic confrontation on I-190. Worcester police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the connection between the two incidents, which unfolded within a short span of time and in close proximity, the WPD reported.

Around 2:20 p.m., Worcester officers responded to a Heroult Road address after receiving reports of a possible gunshot victim. When they arrived, they found a man with severe gunshot wounds. He was given medical aid and being rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Approximately an hour later, a Massachusetts State Trooper approached a man acting suspiciously near I-190. The man brandished a firearm and fired a shot before fleeing. Shortly after, Worcester police were called to I-190 northbound where the same suspect was reportedly stopping traffic and pointing a firearm at passing motorists.

Police and state troopers pursued the armed man on foot as he attempted to carjack vehicles on the highway. Officers discharged their firearms in response to the threat, but the man ultimately turned his weapon on himself, fatally shooting himself. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities believe the suspect from the highway incident is linked to the earlier homicide on Heroult Road. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have stated there is no further danger to the public.

Anyone with information or video footage related to the incidents is urged to contact the Worcester Police Detective Bureau at 508-799-8651.
