WORCESTER—Described as “fascinating” by the Hollywood Reporter, “riveting” by The Queer Review, “timely and urgent” by Cinerama Film, and “one of the best documentaries of this or any year” by the British Film Institute, “CURED” delves into the pivotal battle that led the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses in 1973.
Join for a special screening of this award-winning PBS documentary on Friday, June 28, from 7-9 p.m. at Hadwen Park Congregational Church, 6 Clover St., Worcester.
The event is hosted by the LGBT Asylum Task Force, Hadwen Park Congregational Church, UCC, and UMass Chan/Memorial. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Emmy-nominated co-director Bennett Singer and healthcare professionals from UMass Memorial and UMass Chan.
This screening is a prelude to the LGBT Asylum Task Force’s Gala 2024 fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 5:30-10:30 p.m. at the DCU Center, celebrating 16 years of supporting LGBTQ asylum seekers. Tickets are $40 off during June for Pride month.
