4 arrests, 3 victims in shooting on Clarkson Street

WORCESTER—A fourth person allegedly involved in a shooting on Clarkson Street on Sunday, April 7, turned himself in, said police.

Joshua Pittman turned himself in without incident on Tuesday morning, April 16.

Police continue to investigate this shooting that happened on Sunday, April 7, around 9:11 p.m., after they responded to reports of gunshots on Clarkson Street.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found three victims: two 18-year-old females and one 17-year-old male. The victims received medical aid at the scene before being transported to the hospital.

On Monday, April 8, Worcester PD detectives arrested the first of four in connection with the Clarkson Street shooting. Jordany Alejo, 19, of Arlington Street, was charged with three counts of Armed Assault to Murder, WPD reported.

Around 1:38 Wednesday morning, a Worcester police officer spotted a vehicle in the area of Park Avenue registered to Atupem, who was known to have an active warrant stemming from Clarkson Street shooting incident.

The officer watched Atupem’s vehicle until 3:02 a.m., when a man assumed to be Atupem got into the car and backed up. The officer turned on his cruiser lights and ordered the man out of the vehicle, immediately recognizing him and placing him under arrest.

On Tuesday, April 9, 23-year-old Levon Atupem of Holden was the second arrested in connection with the incident, charged with three counts of assault to murder with a firearm, accessory before the fact, and accessory after the fact, Worcester police report.

And on April 10, Worcester police officers arrested Carter Webster, 18, also in connection with the Clarkson Street shooting. Around 1:10 p.m., officers spotted Webster walking toward a car on Grafton Street and converged on him as he got into the vehicle. According to police, Webster got out of the vehicle and attempted to run away, but was taken into custody by officers. Webster struggled with officers, who realized that Webster had a handgun in his waistband, and does not have a license to carry firearms.

Webster was placed under arrest for the warrant related to the Clarkson Street shooting. and was also charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license (second or subsequent offense), possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
