Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Beer! Now that we’ve got your attention—beer is pouring at the DCU Center on Saturday, March 30, for the Brew Woo—Worcester’s Original Craft Beer Festival. Two “sessions” are available, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., with ticket holders get a chance to taste craft beer from local, regional, and national breweries. Plus, there’s live music, food, and vendors.
- Celebrating Women’s History Month with filmmaking pioneer: In celebration of Women’s History Month, GR Films and The Greater Boston Film Collective bring the Second Annual Lois Weber Film Festival to the Elm Draughthouse in Millbury on Saturday, March 30, from 2-5 p.m. The event highlights Weber’s contributions to cinema by showcasing her films and the films of other rising female filmmakers in the region. It even includes a showing of the film “Shoes” with live music.
- The early bird gets to the bird walk on time: Birds are more active and out and about in the morning, which is why such bird walks take place so early, such as the one on Friday, March 29, from 7-9 p.m. at the Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary on Massasoit Road. Participants enjoy a guided walk during which birding skills are sharpened, and resident and migrating birds are tracked and observed. All levels welcome.
- You’re going back to Greendale’s….for the Deloreans!? Of course you are. It’s a great band made up of seasoned players touching on classics (and some obscurities) from the ‘60s through the ‘80s. This band, replete with a killer brass section, taps into everything from Chicago to Earth, Wind and Fire to Men at Work. The Deloreans show starts at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29, at Greendale’s Pub on West Boylston Street.
- Railers game benefits local veterans: The mighty Worcester Railers take to the ice against the Newfoundland Growlers Saturday, with the puck dropping at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday (yup, after the beer festival!). To honor the active military community and bring in the ROTC to the audience, the Railers don camo jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Central Massachusetts Veterans Support Inc.
