The Worcester Guardian invites residents from across the city to help shape the future of local journalism through its newly established Community Advisory Board.
The volunteer board serves in an advisory role, providing feedback on community concerns, emerging issues and the information needs of Worcester residents as the nonprofit news organization continues to expand its local coverage.
According to the Worcester Guardian Board of Directors, the initiative is designed to strengthen connections between the newsroom and the community while ensuring coverage reflects the people and neighborhoods the publication serves.
“Strong local journalism begins with listening,” the board said in announcing the initiative.
The Community Advisory Board helps identify emerging issues, elevate underrepresented perspectives and strengthen relationships across Worcester’s neighborhoods.
The Guardian is seeking applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, including neighborhood leaders, business owners, educators, nonprofit professionals, students and residents from throughout Worcester. Organizers said they hope to assemble a board that reflects the city’s diverse neighborhoods, industries, cultures, ages and lived experiences.
Members will serve in an advisory capacity and will not be involved in newsroom decision-making or editorial operations. Instead, they will provide community insight and help identify opportunities for engagement.
Anyone interested is welcome to submit an application by Oct. 1.
