Worcester holds info sessions on joining city boards, commissions

Residents invited to learn about roles, requirements and vacancies on city panels

WORCESTER—Ever want to get more active in your community?

The city is holding two information sessions to help residents learn how to serve on Worcester’s municipal boards and commissions.

According to an announcement from the city, the sessions will walk attendees through what each board and commission does, why they play a role in local government and how residents can apply to serve. The events will include a panel discussion and opportunities for participants to speak directly with current and former members as well as municipal staff.

“Boards and Commissions are incredibly important and help preserve the vitality of our democratic institutions,” City Manager Eric D. Batista said in the announcement. “From the Accessibility Advisory Commission to the Zoning Boards of Appeals, there is a board or commission for everyone. I urge residents to attend these info sessions and make a plan to get involved with a board or commission to serve the public and make a direct impact in your community.”

Both sessions will be held at the Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence St. The first is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. The second takes place Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Details on all boards and commissions, including current vacancies, are available at the city’s website: www.worcesterma.gov/boards-commissions.
