GRAFTON—A 54-year-old Worcester man has been arrested in connection with alleged crimes against children following an investigation by the Grafton Police Department, according to a department press release issued Wednesday.

Police said the man was employed as a school bus driver and transport aide for AA Transportation and was arrested after investigators uncovered allegations involving a child. According to Grafton police, the charges include aggravated rape of a child, indecent assault and battery on a child, kidnapping, reckless endangerment of a child, misleading a police investigation and tampering with evidence.

In the press release, Grafton police said they are working closely with the Grafton School District and AA Transportation to ensure student safety and noted that the suspect is no longer employed by the transportation company. Police also stated that the suspect was not assigned to general student transportation routes.

The department said the Grafton School District has been in contact with families of all students who may have had contact with the suspect. Police are encouraging parents and guardians to speak with their children and to report any concerning behavior.

The suspect was arraigned Wednesday in Westborough District Court and is being held on $50,000 bail. Police said that if bail is posted, the suspect would be placed on house arrest with GPS monitoring.
