City Manager Eric Batista is set to deliver Worcester’s annual State of the City address on June 17, offering a look back at a year marked by major municipal investments, housing initiatives and the city’s first proposed billion-dollar budget.
The event, presented by the city in conjunction with the Worcester Regional Research Bureau, takes place at 6 p.m. in the Levi Lincoln Chamber at City Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
According to a city announcement, Batista plans to reflect on both the accomplishments and challenges facing Worcester over the past year, including the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget, the groundbreaking of the city’s planned Day Resource Center and the launch of Worcester’s Housing Production Plan.
“The City of Worcester has experienced another year of big successes and challenges,” Batista said in the announcement. “We’ve proposed our first billion-dollar budget, broke ground on a Day Resource Center, and launched a much needed Housing Production Plan. These are some of the developments from the past year that will be reflected upon at our annual State of the City Address. Beyond reflection, we will celebrate all that makes Worcester the beautiful and thriving city that it is.”
Worcester Regional Research Bureau Executive Director and CEO Paul Matthews said the event comes as the city continues to grow.
“With Worcester continuing our extraordinary growth to nearly 214,000 residents, the Research Bureau is honored to continue our tradition hosting a State of the City address by City Manager Eric Batista,” Matthews said in the announcement. “We look forward to providing him with an opportunity to share his perspective and vision for the future of New England’s second largest city.”
The address will be held Wednesday, June 17, at Worcester City Hall, 455 Main St.
