A man and a woman were hospitalized after being shot inside Victory Cigar Bar on Shrewsbury Street early Wednesday morning, according to Worcester police.
Police responded to the business at 56 Shrewsbury St. at approximately 12:35 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
According to the Worcester Police Department, officers arrived and immediately provided medical aid to both victims, using chest seals before they were transported to a local hospital.
Police said both victims were conscious and alert when they were taken from the scene. They later underwent surgery and are currently listed in stable condition.
The suspect had not been taken into custody as of Wednesday morning. However, police said there is “no reason to believe there is danger to the public” at this time.
The exterior of the building and a portion of Shrewsbury Street were closed for approximately two hours while investigators processed the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or the identity of the suspect.
