Our picks this week include a Fleetwood Mac tribute, a historical “tour” through the city’s diners, Albanian Festival, Touch-a-Truck and a songwriter’s circle. The Worcester Guardian highlights events you may want to consider hitting up this weekend.
Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- Worcester at the counter: a deep-fried history tour: Note the new time and location! Take a delicious dive into Worcester’s greasy spoon past with Worcester History Deep Dive: Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives at the Worcester Public Library on Saturday, May 31, from 3–4 p.m. Local History Librarian Alex will serve up stories of the city’s iconic lunch cars, beloved diners, and blue-collar eateries that fed generations of Worcesterites. Come hungry for knowledge—and maybe pancakes.
- Albanian Festival serves culture, community, Kafene vibes: St. Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church brings the heart of the Balkans to Worcester May 30–June 1 for its 21st Biennial Albanian Festival. Expect live music, DJs, dancing, bazaar vendors, church tours, and delicious traditional fare (yes, the food line’s open late). Family-friendly fun runs all weekend, with a kids area and performances from dance group ValleTona. Don’t miss the Kafene coffee house or your chance to soak in some serious Albanian hospitality.
- Songs, stories & six strings: Calling all local lyricists. Songwriting in the Round at WCUW is back this Sunday, June 1, from 3:30–6:30 p.m. Hosted by Serena May Kilsmith, this monthly showcase and open mic brings together Worcester-area songwriters to perform original music, share stories behind the songs, and discuss the ins and outs of the local music scene. After the featured artists take the stage, the mic opens up to anyone ready to play. Expect inspiration, community vibes, and a few behind-the-scenes tips from industry pros — all in the intimate setting of the WCUW Frontroom at 910 Main St.
- Big trucks, bigger fun: Touch-a-Truck 2025 rolls into the Worcester JCC on Sunday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and it’s revved up to be a hit with kids and grown-ups alike. Families can explore construction vehicles, emergency rigs, and more — all up close and hands-on. With food trucks, bounce houses, themed crafts, and designated “Pit Stop” and “Rest Stop” zones, this free, rain-or-shine event on Salisbury Street promises four hours of nonstop vroom-filled fun. You can even sign up to participate with a big rig here.
- Can’t disguise, Sweet Little Lies: Fleetwood Mac fans, don’t stop thinking about Friday night: Little Lies, New England’s premiere tribute to the legendary band, takes the stage at Off the Rails on May 30 at 7 p.m. The Massachusetts-based group channels the classic harmonies, riffs, and rhythms of Stevie, Lindsey, Christine, Mick and John with precision and heart. Expect all the hits—from “Go Your Own Way” to “Landslide”—in a high-energy show that celebrates the magic, mystique, and musical legacy of Fleetwood Mac.
