Brockton man arrested in Fitchburg fatal stabbing

Authorities say 27-year-old faces assault charges; victim’s name not yet released

FITCHBURG—A 27-year-old Brockton man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing on Chester Street early Tuesday morning, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

Police said they responded to a disturbance involving a knife around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and found a man suffering from stab wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released pending notification of family.

The suspect, Charles Ednerson, was arrested later in the day in Brockton. He is facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder. Authorities said he will be arraigned Wednesday in Fitchburg District Court.

The investigation is ongoing by Fitchburg Police and State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
