WORCESTER—Small Business Saturday, observed each November, is a nationwide movement to support and celebrate the small, local businesses that are the backbone of our communities. And Worcester’s got a host of these businesses that make the city vibrant and unique.
Originally created by American Express in 2010, the day has since grown to become an annual event encouraging consumers to “shop small” and recognize the contributions of local businesses. By 2011, Small Business Saturday had gained enough momentum that the U.S. Senate passed a resolution supporting the day, and since then, participation has flourished.
As we approach Small Business Saturday this year, the Worcester Guardian is on the lookout for Worcester’s small businesses that are part of this movement. Whether you own a dance studio, a local eatery, a tech repair shop, or a handmade goods business, we want to share your story with our readers. We’re particularly interested in learning how you plan to engage the community this Small Business Saturday and what makes your business unique.
We urge those those interested in being featured to reach out to the Worcester Guardian by emailing carsenault@theworcesterguardian.org with “Small Business Saturday” in the subject line. We look forward to showcasing the stories and spirit of Worcester’s small businesses this season.
