WORCESTER—The City of Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks announced Monday that the Crompton Park pool will open on Tuesday, July 2.
The pool was scheduled to open on Monday, but did not because of an elevated level of bacteria following an equipment failure. The piece of equipment has since been repaired.
In addition to the Crompton Park pool, Bell Pond, Coes Pond Beach, Indian Lake Beach and Shore Park are open and fully staffed with lifeguards, in partnership with the YMCA of Central Massachusetts.
The Cristoforo Columbo (East Park) and Greenwood spray parks opened last week.
All facilities are open seven days a week, noon to 7 p.m. Beaches and Crompton Park pool will be open until Aug. 18. Spray parks will close Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.
In addition to the city-run facilities, the state also operates pools at Vernon Hill Park (Dennis F. Shine Jr. Memorial Swimming Pool) and in Webster Square (Bennett Field Pool). They opened for the season Monday. State beaches at Regatta Point and Lake Park opened in June.
