Crompton pool set to reopen Thursday

City pool joins lineup of splash-friendly spots as summer heats up

WORCESTER—Crompton Park Pool officially reopens to the public on Thursday, July 10, at noon, following a delay caused by a faulty valve and equipment issues that led to elevated bacteria levels in the water, according to the Worcester Department of Parks, Recreation & Cemetery.

The pool’s opening comes after the city initially projected a July 2 start date, which was pushed back when the equipment failure prompted additional testing and repair work. State officials gave the all-clear following a round of water quality testing earlier this week.

Crompton Park Pool, located at 50 Canton St., will now operate seven days a week from noon to 7 p.m. through Aug. 23.

Worcester’s full slate of summer water attractions is now in swing. City beaches at Bell Pond, Coes Pond (John J. Binienda Memorial Beach), Indian Lake, and Shore Park are open daily and staffed with lifeguards in partnership with the YMCA of Central Massachusetts.

Two city spray parks—Cristoforo Colombo (East Park) and Greenwood—opened last week and are also operating daily from noon to 7 p.m. Beaches and the Crompton Pool will remain open through Aug. 18, while spray parks will stay open until Labor Day, Sept. 2.

Additionally, the state has reopened its two Worcester pools: Dennis F. Shine Jr. Memorial Pool at Vernon Hill Park and the Veterans Memorial Pool at Bennett Field in Webster Square. State-managed beaches at Regatta Point and Lake Park have been open since June.
