WORCESTER—A new bar is celebrating its grand opening in Worcester’s Canal District next week.

The 1885 on Green Street will open at 5 p.m. on Dec. 13 for the celebration, according to a post on the bar’s Instagram page.

“We’ve been working hard here at 1885,” the post reads. “With a few more finishing touches we’ll be ready to see all of your faces!”

The 1885 promises to give customers an “elevated cocktail and lounge experience,” according to its social media page.

In an interview with MassLive in August, head chef Adam Maciejewski said he wants to create a menu that plays off the cocktail lounge experience and is social and fun with global influences. The menu will have small plates and shareable platters and include options such as octopus tacos and a seafood platter that includes smoked mussels.

Braden Pfahl, the bar manager, told the news outlet that the bar will be cutting its own large format ice, throwing and rolling cocktails, and doing a lot of clarification and infusions. The cocktails will include a Green Street Green Tea with Irish whiskey, peach schnapps, citrus, and a little bit of sugar.

The bar’s owners Cameron Brigham, Mario Ritacco, and Nick Oliveri have spent most of their lives in Worcester, the Telegram & Gazette reported.

Brigham told the newspaper they wanted to bring something different to Worcester without scaring people away. He said he wanted to give Worcester residents a taste of what they’ve seen outside the city.
