Free Thanksgiving meals offer warmth and tradition in Worcester

Cafe Neo and Boulevard Diner two local institutions that keep holiday traditions alive with free meals for the community

Peter Tsigas has been offering free buffets

WORCESTER—For those looking for a warm meal and welcoming company this Thanksgiving, two longstanding Worcester institutions are stepping in to assist again.

Cafe Neo is reviving its beloved Thanksgiving dinner tradition after a brief hiatus last year.

Now located at 289 Harding St., Cafe Neo hosts an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Chef and owner Panagiotis “Peter” Tsigas dishes out a mix of classic holiday staples such as turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, alongside Greek specialties for which the restaurant is known.

“For 25 years, Cafe Neo has provided free Thanksgiving dinner,” Tsigas told the Worcester Guardian, adding, “I like to help when I can.”

The Boulevard Diner, another Worcester favorite, is also continuing its tradition of giving back. The diner, located on Shrewsbury Street, serves a free turkey dinner from noon to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The Boulevard invites anyone who may be alone, doesn’t feel like cooking, or needs a place to gather to join them.

“Nothing makes us happier than to give back,” the diner shared in a post. They also encourage community members to spread the word to those in need, ensuring everyone in Worcester can enjoy a hot meal and feel cared for this holiday season.
