WORCESTER—The folks at the Worcester Public Library continue to come up with inventive ways to make using the library’s services, and reading, more appealing.

Last month, they had an animal-loving way for people to avoid paying fines by offering March Meowness, which allowed patrons who owed fines to forgo paying simply by showing a photo of a feline. The whimsical marketing program got national attention, even getting picked up by the New York Times.

Now, while there is no grand prize of owning a chocolate factory, or library, WPL introduces the Golden Ticket Adventure and hopes the community will play along. This new adventure invites visitors to use the library’s vending machines, in which there is a golden ticket buried in each one of the three locations.

The Golden Ticket Adventure is “a unique initiative to ignite the love for literature and discovery and increase usage of our library vending machines…. and a library experience like no other,” said the announcement.

Each of the library vending machines, which are located at Union Station, the YMCA Central Branch, and the Worcester Senior Center, holds one special book, and within its cover a chance at getting a golden ticket.

This ticket is a passport to a world of imagination and a choice of one excellent prize, whether it’s a Google Chromebook, a Nintendo Switch Lite, a dinner and a movie gift pack, or a $150 gift card to the grocery store of your choice. The “possibilities are endless,” according to organizers.
