WORCESTER—Assumption University has reappointed President Greg Weiner, Ph.D., for a five-year term through May 2030, citing his leadership and vision as pivotal to the university’s continued success.

“President Weiner’s leadership has been instrumental in setting Assumption University on a path of continued success,” said Board of Trustees Chair Candace A. McGovern Race said in the announcement. “We are confident that his vision for the future of Assumption will continue to elevate the university and benefit generations of students.”

Since his appointment, Weiner has introduced transformative initiatives, including the university’s Thrive strategic plan, increased first-year enrollment by 32%, and secured provisional accreditation for Assumption’s Physician Assistant program. The university has also seen enhanced retention rates and launched new programs like the first-year Foundations program and the Center for Civic Friendship under his guidance.

Weiner, an author and nationally recognized scholar of political and constitutional thought, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. “Anything we accomplish at Assumption, we accomplish together as a community,” he stated. “Assumption will thrive because of the distinctive nature of our Catholic liberal education…and the unique character of our students.”
