WORCESTER COUNTY—Ripple Fiber, a Southeast-based fiber optic internet provider, is making its first move into Massachusetts with a $140 million investment in high-speed fiber internet. The project’s first phase kicks off this spring in Holden and West Boylston, with service expected to launch by mid-2025.
According to the company’s announcement, construction will expand to other areas of Worcester, Norfolk, and Bristol counties in the coming months, with additional office locations planned in both Worcester and Bristol counties to support local customers.
“Our entrance into Massachusetts represents a significant achievement in expanding our national footprint, with our upcoming build establishing our presence in the Northeast region,” said Greg Wilson, Ripple Fiber’s founder and CEO, in the announcement.
The West Boylston Municipal Light Plant is working alongside Ripple Fiber to introduce faster and more competitive internet service options to the town. Holden Town Manager Peter Lukes noted that Ripple Fiber has collaborated effectively with local departments, saying residents will be “thrilled to finally have options when choosing internet providers.”
Currently, 55% of Massachusetts lacks access to fiber internet, according to Reviews.org. Ripple Fiber’s expansion aims to close that gap and provide homes and businesses with more reliable, high-speed connectivity.
Once construction plans are finalized, residents will be able to pre-order service and receive updates directly from Ripple Fiber.
