WORCESTER—The Holy Cross baseball team kicked off its 2025 season with a new-look coaching staff, as head coach Ed Kahovec announced key staff changes ahead of the team’s opening series against the Auburn, AL, Tigers.

Sam Tinkham has been promoted to associate head coach, continuing in his role as recruiting coordinator, while Kyle Dembrowski and Shane Bogli have joined the program as assistant coaches. The adjustments were in place for the Crusaders’ season-opening series against No. 22 Auburn, in which Holy Cross dropped two of three games.

“Tinkham has done an outstanding job during his four years as our pitching coach and recruiting coordinator,” Kahovec said in a press release. “This promotion recognizes his fantastic work with our student-athletes, along with his diligent efforts behind the scenes that make our program operate at the highest level.”

Kahovec also expressed enthusiasm about the additions of Dembrowski and Bogli.

“I am also very excited to add Kyle Dembrowski and Shane Bogli to our staff this year. Both are good young coaches that are eager to add value to the development of our players on and off the field,” he said.

Meet the new coaches

Tinkham, entering his fifth season with Holy Cross, has helped develop multiple All-Patriot League pitchers, including Luke Fox (2022), Alex Bryant (2024), and Danny Macchiarola (2024). Before joining the Crusaders, he coached at Wofford College, working with the pitching staff.

Dembrowski, who coaches the team’s catchers, arrives from the Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, where he served as associate manager in 2024. He previously coached at Lackawanna College, Spalding University, Worcester State, and Westfield Starfires.

Bogli, set to lead the squad in the outfield, comes from Western New England University, where he was an assistant pitching coach. He has also worked with the CT Capitals Baseball Academy and will serve as an assistant and pitching coach for the New Britain Bees in 2025.

The Crusaders will look to build on their early-season experience against Auburn as they continue non-conference play before heading into Patriot League action later this spring. Next up for the Crusaders is a three-game series at George Washington.
