WORCESTER—Two long-standing, family-run insurance agencies in Worcester have merged, reflecting a broader trend of consolidation in the insurance industry. Insurance Marketing Agencies (IMA) announced its merger with Bullock Insurance Agency earlier this month.

The merger brings together two agencies with more than a century of history each, strengthening IMA’s position and expanding its carrier relationships across New England.

“We are excited to welcome Bullock Insurance Agency to the IMA family and look forward to working with Nancy, Asha, and Mary Ann,” said Peter Herman, president of IMA, in the announcement. “Much like Bullock, IMA is a family-run agency that values service and prides itself on going above and beyond for customers.”

Bullock Insurance Agency, founded in 1918, has served the Worcester community for over a century, providing personal insurance solutions along with notary and brokerage services. Owner and principal Nancy M. Gervais said the merger allows the agency to “access new markets and better serve our clients.”

The two agencies plan to integrate operations smoothly, with clients continuing to receive the same level of service they have come to expect.

IMA, one of New England’s largest privately held independent insurance agencies, has been family-owned and operated for 100 years and specializes in risk management services for commercial clients.

“From the first time we all met, we knew instantly that this would be a good fit,” Herman added.
