LEOMINSTER—A man was arrested Friday afternoon following a standoff with police in Leominster that ended with a woman found dead inside a Union Street home, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

Leominster police responded to the residence shortly before 3 p.m. on Dec. 26 after receiving a 911 call, the district attorney’s office said in a release. Officers later took a man into custody after a standoff that lasted several hours.

A woman was found inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the announcement. Her name has not been released.

The man is expected to be arraigned Monday in Leominster District Court.

Because the case involves a domestic incident, authorities said no additional information will be released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing and is being handled by the Leominster Police Department and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
