Mirick expands annual volunteer initiative, with 93% of employees taking part in community service

The Worcester-based law firm supported 10 nonprofit organizations across Central Massachusetts and Greater Boston through volunteer projects, donation drives and charitable giving

Nearly all employees at Worcester-based law firm Mirick participated in volunteer projects or charitable giving this year as the firm expanded its annual community service initiative to support a broader range of nonprofit organizations across the region.

According to a company announcement, 93% of Mirick’s workforce took part in the firm’s 2026 Mirick Gives Back program, contributing to 17 volunteer projects, collection drives and fundraising efforts benefiting organizations focused on food security, housing, education, youth programs, veterans’ services and public health.

The initiative, now in its second year, involved 120 employees and supported 10 nonprofit organizations across Worcester, MetroWest and Greater Boston, an increase from eight organizations during the program’s inaugural year in 2025.

“Community involvement has long been part of Mirick’s culture, and the strong participation in Mirick Gives Back demonstrates how deeply that commitment is shared across the firm,” attorney Paul Foley, chair of the Mirick Gives Back Committee, said in the announcement. “Whether they are sorting donations, staffing a food pantry or organizing a school supply drive, our team members consistently make time to support the communities where they live and work.”

The volunteer efforts included assisting at food pantries, organizing donation drives, preparing facilities for youth summer programs, stocking thrift stores, assembling school supplies and hygiene kits, and supporting veterans through community events.

Several Worcester organizations were among those receiving assistance, including Friendly House, Jeremiah’s Inn, Girls Inc. of Worcester, Veterans Inc. and the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester. Employees also volunteered with organizations such as Abby’s House, Project Just Because, El Buen Samaritano Food Pantry, the Boys & Girls Club of MetroWest and Pine Street Inn.

In addition to volunteer projects held throughout June, the initiative included year-round giving campaigns. A February “SOUPer Bowl” drive collected food and monetary donations for Friendly House, while a spring campaign gathered recreational and educational supplies for Girls Inc. of Worcester’s summer camp programs.

Mirick said it encourages participation by providing employees with dedicated volunteer time and offering a variety of opportunities designed to accommodate different schedules and job responsibilities.

“As a firm that has been part of Central Massachusetts for more than a century, we recognize the importance of showing up for the organizations that help our communities thrive,” co-managing partner Bob Kilroy said in the announcement. “Mirick Gives Back gives our team a meaningful way to do that together, while supporting nonprofits that are doing critical work every day.”

Founded in 1916, Mirick is the largest full-service law firm headquartered in Central Massachusetts, with offices in Worcester, Westborough and Boston.
