An off-duty Massachusetts State Police trooper was killed Sunday evening in a motorcycle crash on Route 122, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

Trooper Jacob Mick, 31, died following a collision between the motorcycle he was operating and a passenger vehicle on Providence Road, officials said.

According to the announcement, the preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday, June 28.

Trooper Mick was pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator of the passenger vehicle was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center’s Lakeside Campus with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the announcement.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Trooper Mick’s family, friends, and colleagues and ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time,” the announcement states.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Grafton Police Department, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC), Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

No additional information was immediately released Monday.
