Price Chopper on Cambridge Street to close at end of the month

WORCESTER — The Price Chopper at 50 Cambridge St. will close at the end of the month, the supermarket chain announced Tuesday.

“After a thorough and thoughtful review, we determined that closing this location was necessary to align our resources with the needs of the broader market,” said Blaine Bringhurst, president of Market32/Price Chopper.

Price Choppers on Park Avenue, Pullman Street, Southwest Cutoff and Sunderland Road will remain open, the company said, and the 76 full- and part-time employees of the Cambridge Street store will be offered jobs at other area locations.

“Closing a store is never easy,” Bringhurst said. “This decision was made to ensure the company’s long-term health so we can continue to evolve and provide an exceptional experience to our customers and the communities we serve.”
