WORCESTER—The Worcester Railers Hockey Club kicks off its eighth season of professional hockey this fall with an opening weekend designed to deliver beyond goals. The team announced Wednesday that the home opener, presented by M&T Bank, takes place on Saturday, Oct. 18, followed by a second game Sunday, Oct. 19, at the DCU Center.

“Opening night is always one of the most exciting evenings of the year,” Team President Kim Golinski said in the announcement. “We believe this upcoming season of Railers hockey will be the best yet, and we’re eager to begin the year alongside our fans at home with some of the most engaging programming we’ve ever had for opening weekend.”

Festivities begin on Commercial Street with the annual opening night block party, presented by BeatBox, from 4-6 p.m. before the Oct. 18 game. Food, vendors, and live music at Off the Rails sets the tone before the Railers face off against their divisional rival, the Maine Mariners.

Inside the arena, world-renowned beatboxer NaPoM, known for his championship performances and global following, will take over the first intermission with a high-energy set.

Family fun continues Sunday with Kids Opening Day, featuring a live appearance from Bluey, the animated Blue Heeler beloved by children around the world. The Railers will take on the Adirondack Thunder that afternoon, with fans invited to meet and take photos with Bluey throughout the game.

On the ice, Worcester opens its season against two of its closest rivals. The matchup with Maine doubles as the first of 14 meetings this year in the VIP Tires Rivalry Cup.

Opening weekend ticket packs, which include admission to one opening weekend game and one Worcester Hockey Heritage game, are available now. Single-game tickets for opening weekend go on sale Thursday, Sept. 4, with the remainder of the 2025-26 schedule on sale Sept. 11. Fans can also sign up for a one-day pre-sale.

The Railers’ 508 Club membership is also available for the 2025-26 season, offering exclusive events and benefits.
