WORCESTER—State Senate Ways & Means Chairperson Michael Rodrigues is the featured speaker at the 34th annual Legislative Breakfast hosted by The Providers of Central Massachusetts next Friday, May 2, at the College of the Holy Cross.
The gathering, themed “Compassion in Action,” brings together more than 180 attendees—including state and local officials, care providers, advocates, and families—at the Hogan Campus Center to address the urgent challenges facing individuals with disabilities and the organizations that serve them.
Discussions center around the impacts of federal policy changes on local services, workforce concerns in the human services sector, and the need for sustained investments in programs that allow individuals with disabilities to live “meaningful and productive lives.”
Rodrigues, who plays a pivotal role in shaping the state budget as chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, is expected to address funding priorities and ongoing efforts to support community-based services.
The Providers of Central Mass. is a collaborative group made up of many of the region’s leading nonprofit organizations in the human services field. Member organizations include Seven Hills Foundation, The Arc of Massachusetts, Open Sky Community Services, Venture Community Services, Advocates, and several others.
In addition to the legislative dialogue, the event honors individuals for outstanding contributions to the field of human services.
The breakfast will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and the public is welcome.
